Concurrent Technologies announces a four
channel asynchronous serial communications PMC adaptor suitable for
CompactPCI® or VME platforms. The CC PMC/RS1 is a single width PMC
adaptor that provides four independent RS232 channels (plus an IEEE-1284
parallel port) or four independent RS422/RS485 channels. Front and rear
I/O is available for both interface types. The RS232 data rates are up
to 230Kbps full duplex and the RS422/RS485 data rates are up to 4Mbps,
where the maximum power consumption is 2.5W and 5.0W respectively. The
CC PMC/RS1 is an upgrade to Concurrent Technologies’ legacy serial PMC
adaptors, the CC PMC/232 and the CC PMC/422.
The CC PMC/RS1 utilizes the Oxford
Semiconductor OXmPCI954 quad UART chip and is designed to handle
high-speed serial data rates. The OXmPCI954 integrates a PCI interface,
four high-performance UART channels compatible with the
industry-standard 16C550, and a bidirectional IEEE-1284 parallel port
supporting SPP (Standard Parallel Port), EPP (Enhanced Parallel Port),
and ECP (Enhanced Capability Port) protocols. The CC PMC/RS1 PCI
interface supports a 32-bit 33MHz PCI bus and is compatible with 3.3V
and 5V PCI signaling.
There are two build versions of the CC PMC/RS1
available. The CC PMC/RS1-25 provides front panel access to four RS232
serial channels (Tx, Rx, RTS, CTS, DTR, DCD) and an IEEE-1284 parallel
port via a 68-pin SCSI-3 connector and rear panel access via the PMC’s
P4 connector. The CC PMC/RS1-50 provides front panel access to four
RS422/RS485 serial channels (Tx, Rx, RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, RI) via a
68-pin SCSI-3 connector and rear panel access via the PMC’s P4
connector. Front panel cables are available to convert from the 68-pin
connector to standard 9-way or 25-way D-type connectors. As stated
earlier, these interfaces are compatible with the Concurrent
Technologies’ legacy serial PMC adaptors, the CC PMC/232 and the CC PMC/422.
The CC PMC/RS1 can be used with any board
level product featuring a standard PMC host interface, including
Concurrent Technologies' CompactPCI or VME based PMC host-board
processors.
For ease of integration, many of today’s
leading operating systems are supported including Linux®, Windows® 2000,
Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded, QNX®, VxWorks® and Solaris™.
