Concurrent Technologies
introduces its new PMC based dual channel Ultra320 SCSI controller,
capable of SCSI synchronous data transfer rates of up to 320 Mbytes/s.
The SC PMC/320 provides two independent Ultra320 SCSI channels by
utilizing the LSI Logic® 53C1030
Ultra320 SCSI controller. For increased data protection the SC PMC/320
supports boot volume mirroring (RAID 1 and RAID 1E) and for increased
performance it supports data striping (RAID 0). By supporting a wide
range of operating systems, the SC PMC/320 is suitable for intensive
data storage applications such as database server systems, distributed
computing, digital rendering, video-on-demand or image/signal
processing.
To offload the intensive
management of the SCSI I/Os from the PMC host processor, the 53C1030
Ultra320 SCSI controller features LSI Logic Fusion-MPT™ (Message Passing
Technology). Fusion-MPT requires only a thin OS device driver, manages
up to 100,000 SCSI I/Os per second and provides I/O controller interrupt
coalescing, which reduces the number of host processor context switches.
To maximize PCI bus transfer performance, the SC PMC/320 PCI interface
operates up to 64-bit/66MHz, offering up to 528 Mbytes/s zero wait state
data bursts. To maximize reliable end-to-end SCSI I/O transfers, the
controller features SureLINK™ domain validation and Cyclic Redundancy
Check (CRC). To maximize SCSI drive compatibility, it provides
integrated LVDlink™ transceivers to support (using auto-sensing) either
Low Voltage Differential (LVD) or single-ended (SE) SCSI buses
automatically.
The SC PMC/320 can
support (narrow and wide) Fast SCSI, Ultra SCSI, Ultra2 SCSI, wide
Ultra160 and wide Ultra320 SCSI standards. Channel 0 is via front panel
68-way High Density SCSI connector and Channel 1 is via the rear I/O P4
PMC connector. The SC PMC/320 can be used with any board level product
featuring a standard PMC host interface, including Concurrent
Technologies' CompactPCI®, VME or Multibus II based PMC host boards.
The SC PMC/320 is fitted
with 512 Kbytes Flash EPROM, pre-programmed with the SCSI BIOS and
on-board configuration utility. This allows, for example, the SC PMC/320
to be configured to boot the operating system via the SCSI interface.
For ease of integration, many of today’s
leading operating systems are supported including, Linux®, Windows®
2000, Windows NT®, Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded, VxWorks®,
UnixWare® and Solaris™. |
