June 2008 –
Concurrent Technologies announces a high-performance dual display
video/graphics XMC based adaptor. The
XM 403/x33 is a high-resolution XMC graphics adaptor supporting a
variety of Digital Flat Panel (DFP) or analog CRT devices in single or
dual display configurations; the DFP and CRT can be driven
simultaneously with the same image or different image sources. As well
as computer graphics the XM 403/x33 supports HD-TV (1080p), PAL, NTSC
and SECAM as video output, and as video input (except HD-TV). The video
input also supports video capture and video streaming; this source can
be overlayed onto the display output. The XM 403/x33 is designed to add
graphics functionality into a single-width XMC slot on the host board.
Commercial and extended temperature versions are now available and
ruggedized, conduction cooled or air cooled, versions will be available
shortly. Applications for this family of boards are expected within the
defense, industrial control, transportation and various embedded
markets.
The XM
403/x33 XMC adaptor utilizes the S3 Graphics 2300E 3D/2D dual display
controller. The 2300E, with 256MBbytes of high-performance gDDR2 SGRAM,
provides good 2D/3D video graphics performance for low power consumption
(less than 15W for the commercial version).
The 2300E
combines a high speed PCI Express® interface, high performance GPU and a
gDDR2 memory controller. The PCI Express interface supports x8, x4 and
x1 lane width. The GPU will support up to 500 MHz engine clock speed
depending on the operating temperature of the board. The memory
controller will connect to 256 Mbytes gDDR2 memory, which will run up to
400 MHz depending on the operating temperature of the board
Depending
on the operating system, the XM 403/x33 supports a wide range of single
or dual display resolutions and refresh rates for standard and
wide-screen formats. The adaptor supports a range of DFP resolutions up
to 2560 x 1560 pixels 32-bit color @ 60Hz and a range of CRT resolutions
up to 2048 x 1536 pixels 32-bit color @ up to 75Hz. The DFP and CRT can
be driven simultaneously with the same image or different image sources.
The front
panel supports a dual-link digital graphic (2560 x 1560) and two
analogue graphic using a DVI-I and SVGA connector. The rear panel
supports, via the rear I/O P4 connector, one dual-link digital graphic
(2560 x 1560) or two single-link digital graphics (1600 x 1200), two
analogue graphic, a TV output, and a Video input. There is an option for
one of the analogue graphic interfaces to route via the optional rear
I/O XMC P6 connector.
The
XM
403/x33 is a single-size card and is compliant with the XMC (Switched
Mezzanine Card) specification; it can be installed onto XMC sites on
appropriate host boards such as Concurrent Technologies’ latest Intel®
dual-core processor based VME and CompactPCI boards. Like the XM
403/x33, Concurrent Technologies’ ranges of XMC host boards are
available in commercial and extended temperature versions, and some are
available in ruggedized, conduction-cooled or air-cooled, versions.
Operating systems supported include Windows® XP, Windows® XP
Embedded, Windows® 2000 and Linux®.
