September 2005 –
Concurrent Technologies
announces the latest addition to their range of networking PMC mezzanine
cards - the CL PMC/GB3, a two channel Gigabit Ethernet adaptor with
1000Base-T and 10Base-T/100Base-Tx capabilities. The adaptor’s +5V power
usage is typically 5 Watts with dual Gigabit operation and it is
targeted at applications that require high data throughput and low
latency.
The CL PMC/GB3 provides high speed
networking through the Intel® 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet controller,
providing individual MAC and frame controllers supporting 64Kbyte Tx/Rx
FIFO ports, along with IP, TCP and UDP checksum off-loading. This
controller allows the board to automatically negotiate transfer rates of
10, 100 or 1,000 megabits per second in full or half duplex mode.
Supporting IEEE 802.3ab, IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u, the adaptor’s
physical connection to an Ethernet network is via industry standard RJ45
connectors that allow connection to low cost CAT 5 UTP cabling.
The CL PMC/GB3 is a single-size
card and is compliant with the CMC (Common Mezzanine Card)
specification. The adaptor complies with the PCI specification, features
3.3 or 5 Volt signaling and 32-bit or 64-bit transfers, can operate at
33 or 66MHz and has bus master capability. The adaptor does not require
an onboard PCI bridge as the Intel 82546GB is a dual channel Gigabit
Ethernet controller that connects straight to the host board’s PCI bus.
A 512Kbyte BIOS EPROM is supported in a 32-pin PLCC JEDEC socket and
includes PXE firmware.
This board can be used with Concurrent
Technologies' CompactPCI®, VME, Multibus II, or with any other PMC
compliant host board. Operating systems supported include Windows® XP,
Windows® XP Embedded, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, Linux®, VxWorks® and
QNX®. |
