Concurrent Technologies has extended the operating temperature
of their recently released single slot VITA 31.1 based VME
single board computer with extensive front/rear I/O
functionality. The VP 305/011-E supports the 1.1 GHz Intel®
Pentium M processor, with up to 1.5 Gbytes DDR ECC SDRAM,
operating over a -25°C to +70°C temperature range. With one to
three PMC sites, all with rear I/O, the VP 305/011-E rear I/O
functions include dual Gigabit Ethernet, VITA 31.1 (Gigabit
Ethernet on VME64x Backplanes), analog/digital graphics,
keyboard, mouse, RS232/422/485, USB, floppy and EIDE
interfaces. The front panel supports the PMC, analog graphics,
keyboard and mouse interfaces and includes additional front
panel interfaces for USB, RS232/422/485 and Fast Ethernet.
At the core
of the design is the low power 1.1 GHz Intel Pentium M
processor with a 400MHz front side bus, 1 Mbyte of high-speed
secondary (L2) on-die cache, in an FC-BGA package. For
increased reliability heat sinks are used in preference to
fans for cooling the processor.
The VP
305/011-E provides, soldered on the board, 512 Mbytes of DDR
ECC SDRAM that can easily be upgraded up to 1.5 Gbytes via the
onboard memory socket. To cater for embedded applications
there is 32 Mbytes of Application Flash memory. For a wider
range of applications there is an EIDE interface (up to
Ultra-DMA100), with an installed EIDE option for a
CompactFlash™ carrier within a single slot. Other on-board
features available are GPIO bits, speaker interface, PC
real-time clock, watchdog timer and long duration timer. LAN
boot firmware is included as well. A transition module is
supplied for applications requiring rear I/O connections.
For ease
of integration, the VP 305/011-E supports many of today’s
leading operating systems, including VxWorks®,
Linux®, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®,
Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded, RTX®,
QNX® and MS-DOS®. |
