The constant requirement for new, innovative and more complex products means that the company requires an additional Senior Hardware Design Engineer.

Working in our New Product Introduction team you will technically lead a team responsible for taking requirements through our product lifecycle and delivering working products. As an Intel Titanium partner you will have access to the latest technologies in advance of their release to market, to allow you and your team to design and manufacture products (in-house) utilising leading-edge microprocessors and peripheral components.

As we strive to stay at the bleeding edge, you will have a voice in how we evolve the hardware and people development processes and methodologies. A team player you will work collaboratively with other functions, whilst providing candid feedback. A Senior member of the team, we will support your development whilst you nurture the capabilities of the engineers who are working with you.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of New Product Introduction as a Senior Hardware Design Engineer, you will lead the development of new board level products using the latest (often pre-release) components to deliver market driven products. The key responsibilities include:

  • Lead a technical design team, from developing requirements and architecture, through to final verification testing.
  • Lead the creation of schematic and PCB design, ensuring the mechanical and thermal design complies with requirements/ schedule needs.
  • Report technical issues and progress, support the PMO (program management office) with inputs on schedule and risk management.
  • Prepare for, and submit technical work for review at lifecycle reviews, work with the review Chair to tailor and facilitate the review.
  • Ensure the necessary analysis and development activities are identified and performed.
  • Conduct design reviews including schematic and PCB layout
  • Manage and contribute to the required design and user documentation


Essential Skills

  • MEng/MSc/BEng in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or similar/equivalent discipline;
  • 6+ years electronics engineering experience;
  • High speed digital circuit design (500MHz plus);
  • Experience of leading technical teams;
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills;
  • Good communication skills;

Desirable skills

  • Post Grad degree in Electronics Engineering;
  • Experience working with PC motherboard architecture, e.g. microprocessors ( 64bit), PCI Express, 100 Gigabit Ethernet, DDR4 Memory;
  • Programmable logic devices or FPGA ;
  • Embedded Software experience/appreciation;
  • Experience with Intel or ARM chipsets

The role is based in our Theale office, near Reading, but for the right candidate we will consider applications to work in our Colchester facility.
